Can I Go to a NJ Rehab if I Live in NY?

The decision to seek treatment for drug or alcohol abuse comes with a host of concerns. Often chief among them is the fear that others will discover that we\’ve gone to treatment. While the recovery movement has taken great strides in educating the public about addiction as a disease, there is still a stigma, and many people are hesitant to seek treatment for that reason. Despite the fact that all reputable treatment centers strictly adhere to HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) standards of privacy, many people still choose to seek treatment out of state. Additionally, many people worry that going to treatment in the same area in which they practiced their active addiction will carry a greater risk of relapse, either during treatment or in the fragile period that follows.

If you live in New York, going to treatment in New Jersey is a viable alternative. Seacrest Recovery Center, located in Eatontown, New Jersey, is just a little over an hour away from Manhattan. Providing high-quality treatment in a \”partial hospitalization\” program (as opposed to inpatient treatment), New Yorkers will be close enough for loved ones to stay in touch while removing the client from the environment in which they practiced their active addiction. The three-phase program at Seacrest provides a safe and therapeutic environment for the client, offering the option of living in one of our living facilities. This provides the opportunity to completely submerge yourself in the recovery process, even during non-treatment hours.

Clients who complete the partial hospitalization phase are stepped down to Phase II, wherein they will attend intensive outpatient (IOP), attend 12-step meetings, and have and maintain a job. In Phase III, the client will attend one outpatient session per week and begin the process of learning to work with other recovering addicts and alcoholics, as part of their 12-step work with their sponsor.

Essentially, the decision to attend treatment in New Jersey is the decision to take a step toward creating a whole new, healthy, addiction-free life. If you or a loved one think that this is the time to take that step, please call 833-SOBER-NJ to speak with an intake specialist and get the ball rolling. The staff at Seacrest knows what you\’re going through – all of us have struggled with addiction and come out the other side.
